This area, called \"North Base\", requires us to rope up to stay out of trouble.', 'An overnight snow cover gives everything a new look.', 'A little snow doesnt bother us much though.', 'We have a frequent visitor in the fishing hut. We have named him \"Wally\"! Wally uses the hole to get some air now and then.', 'Last week Wally stopped by with the catch of the day! This is a \"D. mawsonii\", also called Antarctic Cod. We saw him coming on the sonar, but it was a surprice that he brought a fish up.', 'Wally wasnt too impressed with us grabbing the \"Mawsonii\" and pulling it up from the hole. We did give it back to him though and he quickly disapeared down under.', 'Weddell pup version of sucking the thumb!', 'One of only 2 bird species that are seen here, a \"Skua\". These birds arrive here when the seal pups and the penguin chicks are born. They find plenty of food.', 'Pup, curious about what is going on around it.', 'Pup, just having fun, not really caring much about what is going on around it!', 'Calling for mom.' );
